Tucked away in the corner of Arunachal Pradesh, with Bhutan on one side and China on the other, the mystical valley of Tawang is an unexplored paradise full of surreal landscapes. Take a road trip from Guwahati and witness the weather change after each bend on the mountain roads, see misty clouds encircling the snow-clad peaks, frequent colourful mustard fields and marvellous orchards leading all the way up till Tawang.

This place can be best described as a heady mix of history, culture and nature. Go any time of the year, one will be welcomed by thick layer of fog hanging over the roads and leading uphill to more than hundred glacial lakes. A home to the Monpa Tribe, Tawang also houses India’s largest Buddhist Monastery.

Come summers, and you see the rhododendrons in the near-barren landscape in its full bloom, to last only for the next three months. This scarlet produce is turned into mouth-watering squashes, jams and jellies and thus becomes a source of livelihood for the people. Also during this season, the Pankang Tso Lake, which remains otherwise frozen, becomes a hub for flocks of migratory birds.

This is a place where nature displays its splendour in all its glory. Visit this paradise once and you would not want to leave, and for some people like us, will end up going back to this magical land, many times over.

Pack your bags and venture out to the lands of the rising sun with Carvan Trips!
